Register your interest for Unifi

Effective 1 January 2011, customers interested in Telekom Malaysia Berhad’s (TM) High Speed Broadband (HSBB) service, UniFi, can now check for service availability as well as sign up for the service via online registration at www.tm.com.my or www.unifi.my. In line with the increasing demand for the service, the online registration option opens yet another channel for the public to quickly apply for the service.

To do so, just visit either of the sites and choose the “click here to subscribe now” button and just follow the simple instructions. The process allows new subscribers to check for service availability based on their address, create personal usernames and profiles, manage their account as well as book an installation appointment.

To encourage subscribers to use its new Online Customer Centre self-service portal, TM is giving all new subscribers who register online a 1 month waiver on the UniFi package subscription fee. This promotion is set to continue until further notice.

UniFi is currently being offered via three residential and three business packages. The residential ‘triple-play’ packages are VIP5 at RM149 a month, VIP10 at RM199 a month and VIP20 at RM249 a month. Each package comes with three (3) services; High Speed Internet, HyppTV and Phone. All UniFi subscribers will get free HyppTV Basic channels. Additional Premium HyppTV and Video-on-Demand offerings are available for a nominal subscription fee. TM will continue to enhance the richness of its HyppTV offering by adding more exciting channels from time to time.

Business packages offered are BIZ5 at RM199 a month, BIZ10 at RM599 a month and BIZ20 at RM899 a month. Each package comes with a ‘dual-play’ offering with a very competitive call plan, High Speed Internet and a host of complimentary services serving the needs of businesses.

Inked in September 2008, the RM11.3 billion national HSBB project is a Public-Private-Partnership agreement between TM and the Government of Malaysia to develop next generation high speed broadband infrastructure and services for the nation. TM is investing up to RM8.9 billion into the project while the Government is contributing RM2.4 billion on an incurred claims basis based on project milestones reached by TM.

Recently MSN Live had put up a simple survey on public awareness of latest TM product UNIFI which is the first fibre optic broadband packages and IPTV service in Malaysia.

Here are the results.

And TM also stated that they already secured a 900 sign up to date. I guess for all the early birds they are quite lucky. First of all there is no speed cap at the moment, then they don’t need to pay the bills until June and lastly TM waived all the installation fees.

If my hometown is covered I’m surely one of the early birds. Too bad Butterworth is not gonna be in the list for the upcoming 3 years or so in my opinion.
