We lived in such a cruel, cruel world

I’ve been abandoned Opera mobile for a while now. Now it seems there is a reason to switch back to Opera. Opera development team has released a new major version, Opera 11.10. In this new update the team has claimed that their new Opera turbo engine is 4 times faster than before. For those who didn’t familiar with Opera turbo, it is useful when you are in slower connection, for example a dial up connection or when you are using a pay per use connection that will charge you by the bytes.
So every bytes of usage is essential when you are with Opera turbo. It will trim down the traffic by caching on Opera server. Personally I’m in loved with this features since the first day they launched it. But after I’ve taken the ride the experience were not so smooth at all. All the images appeared when using Opera turbo seems a bit jagged. That’s a bit turn off. Well what you expect, you lose the file size and you definitely gonna lose some of the image quality right.
After that my normal surfing habit continues using Firefox with Google DNS. It is much better for me. At least for my crappy connection. Thanks to Digi broadband for that.
Ok back on Opera 11.10;
Here’s some comparison of the new technology that built in with Opera 11.10. It’s a new image format called WebP.

Image has been taken from, labnol.
The outcome seems pretty good. With so much file trims and yet the quality of the image still there. I’m gonna run a few test of this new browser tonight. Hope it’s gonna be good from last time.
and some teaser video,
The anticipated version 4 has finally arrived! The version offers now comparable speeds to other fast browsers such as Internet Explorer 9, Opera or Google Chrome.
Firefox 4 comes with improved web standards support, including better CSS3, HTML5 and web graphics compatibility. Other notable features include hardware acceleration support, support for the HTML5 video WebM format, out of process plugins for Macs (Linux and Windows have it built-in since Firefox 3.6), privacy enhancements and multitouch support under Windows 7.
The actual released date is tomorrow. But if you can’t wait. Here is the link to the mirror. It’s already there. It just waiting to be exposed.
Enjoy
