Ridiculous P1 Wimax upfront fees

advertisement.gif

With a RM999 for a modem fee, RM100 registration fee and RM50 activation fee (first bill) we as normal user can say goodbye to taste Wimax.

Check out their package. I guess we just had to wait for the cooling off period for the price of the modem to drop. Until now just enjoy Screamyx and Celcom Narrowband. :-p

According to P1 official website, it shows that the modem is free of charge for current promotion.
However I can’t find further information to prove that statement.

I totally agree with you on the upfront payment.. had to sacrifice my whole month salary just for the initial payment…

Guess its new technology and they’re charging us consumers a bombshell.

Yes the current promotion will give a free modem, but the registration and activation fees still applied.

How about other people in Penang for example who can’t enjoy this promotion when Wimax get here. I do hope they will extent this sweet promotion for some time.

if wirelessKL is any indication of their consistency and reliability of their service, I say forget it. Give it a miss until they get their sht together.

Just cos you’re not making money out of the wirelesssKL project doesn’t mean you abandon it entirely. Postponing your delivery date just gives a bad impression of the company. How would I know that they won’t have the same type of attitude when it comes to servicing the RM59 monthly user as opposed to those shelling out RM150?

dude..this promotion is a crap..if u subscribe for 1 or 2 year than oni u will get the modem free..but u will tied with contract..

    beside that,their connection is sucks..
from my experience and my frenz,P1 alwiz have downtime each and everyday..whenever i called their call centre, thy claims that they already assigned my case to their technician department but no feedback until now.. what a superb company??

When my fren registered, they claims that it can support until 15-20th floor, but after registered their call centre claims it only can support until 7-8th floor… Which one is true?
Call centre..cos my fren staying in 16th floor but the he unable to use the connection even a single day..

And each time,i have to repeat my contact number and name for their reference..my gosh..
Im juz sick of it edi..
Now,if i want to terminate the service,i have to walk over to their ugly building in Jln Templer..

R they going to pay me the petrol fee?

No..and even the best part is i oni got RM 50.00 from my registration refund..
thy claims that the balance Rm 50.00 for admin fees..(oh god..i was regret what i did and why i choose this stupid Wimax)..

    Choose wisely,frenz..

Yeah I truly agreed with u Prince Darkness.

P1 ( Wimax ) is really a stupid wireless product that had been launch by Packet One.
They claimed to be the First one to launch this STUPID service but its really Sucks.
I got few frens who is working in P1 office in Jln Templer. They said every day got down time. When call to their customer service to check on the connection problem or to check on previous problem means they always will say their Network or Technical Team is looking on this. ( How long do they need to solve it – 2 weeks ah? )
Then why are saying this is a different Wireless Technology. It’s seem to be the same as other wireless connection in the market.
Do you ppl know some thing about P1 Wimax. They got this policy in their T&C to LIMIT the connection when reached 20G. ( P1 is cheating all the customer’s on this )
Even their CEO Mr. Michael Lai said P1 Wimax service is unlimited access in one of TV program.
They claimed that is Mobility. ( Big Liar ). How can we get power supply if we are on the move. Bullshit la.
However, streamyx or other provider in the market are abit better this P1.

Pls ppl don’t trust this STUPID product and cancel your other Internet service.

    Just wait n See

Also be aware of their T&Cs, namely 20GB/month cap and 50km radius coverage from registered address.

I’ve blogged about this at the link above.

i agreed! the service is actually crap. i lives in bandar baru sentul, and the connection here is like ‘biskut marie’. sometimes it’s good but most of the times it’s bad. and please don’t believe those web site that claims this heaven-sent wireless bullshit. i think they were paid to promote this thing.

I think P1 should concentrate to stabilize the connectivity before expanding it to other areas. Im living in Damansara Kim which they claim that the connection is covered. Out of 24 hours, i am only able to connect for 4 hours. This is really a big problem that they are facing, down time and stability issue. Furthermore, the modem has to be put at a specific place, facing out of the window. If i turn it abit, i get disconnected. More frustrating is that, the next day, that specific place i usually put, does not connect online at all… then i have to start hunting for a new location in my house.

Guys, do you know that wimax is operating at 3.5Ghz or more?
This is Micowave signal and its no good to your health!
The moment you bring in their modem/transceiver, you will allow the rf to send out for over the 50km radius (as mentioned by CEO P1).
Do you know that even your microwave oven is abt 2.4Ghz? thus the higher the frequency the higher your chances to get cooked….

I suppose Mike Lai is experiencing sleepless nights just as similar during his stint with TM Net. Yup he was the TM Net boss, with Marketing as his forte, though he was an Electrical Engineer by vocational training ( i was told from insight source). Former Streamyx upholder and then on to P1? Need we say more? We need ENGINEERS heart right on top this corporation hirarchy fellas…Certainly, it’s not just all about the money right?

Borrowed friend’s modem a few weeks ago and it was very fast, very ok. So decided to get one myself. And it SUCKS! Takes hours to get a connection. Speed was 1.8Mbps for a few MINUTES, then it went down to 12kbps!!! Now the pages aren’t even loading. Good thing this happened while still in trial period.

Well guys and gals really needed an internet immediately due lots of on9 jobs. I tried for a week, pre-registered got the free modem. I was outrageous on the 1st day with blistering speed downloaded a movie from utorrent took me abt 40 minutes. After that it sucked for a week, can’t even googled takes loading a page for 2 minutes.(Even my dial-up is faster) Fortunately it was on my trial period, then they tell me my home street is not covered. How cruel was that…just returned the modem, felt better P1 was all hype no substance…now have to return my life in a CC.

I am wimax user myself and i am an agent for wimax. frankly speaking, wimax is really moving at its top speed provided your modem is facing the station. the station is usually in the middle of one poligon. and if you are living on the edges of the poligon then be wary. upload and downloads from the internet is superbly fast. p2p will be a little slow compared to streaming and buffering on the internet.so whatever you are downloading from torrent or whatsoever, just be patient!! Afterall, it really depends on your location! contact me if there is any enquiries on wimax at suetee.loh@myccs.com…Happy WiMaxinG!!

Then good for the people which got the amazing speed. My comment was based on what I got during the trial period. But anyway maybe in a year or two I will try again. Now using Umobile eventhough its not microwave signal, it does fare well RM78,monthly & unlimited.
