Ridiculous P1 Wimax upfront fees

advertisement.gif

With a RM999 for a modem fee, RM100 registration fee and RM50 activation fee (first bill) we as normal user can say goodbye to taste Wimax.

Check out their package. I guess we just had to wait for the cooling off period for the price of the modem to drop. Until now just enjoy Screamyx and Celcom Narrowband. :-p

P1 WiMax is rapidly expanding their coverage now, and they’re going to cover approximately 45% of Malaysia by the year 2010. In fact, they’ve already got 25% of Malaysia within coverage at the moment. For the people who are within coverage, the speed is crazy fast, and it should remain just as fast no matter how many users there are, cuz P1 WiMax is planning to build 900 towers, which is more than any WiMax telco in Malaysia. Izzi’s nice, but i believe that P1 WiMax will go much further than all the other broadbands in the long run… including Streamyx. =)

Oh, for those who are not aware of it, there are 2 different WiMax providers in Malaysia, which are Amax WiMax and P1 WiMax. They both use the same tecnology which is WiMax, but they are both individual companies. The one i was talking about in my post before this regarding the coverage and etc, is referring to the P1 WiMax, not Amax. =P

p.s. – those of you who had bad connections with WiMax are probably not within coverage yet. Try it again in future when you are in coverage. The speed is AWESOME!!!

had subscribe and using Wimax for 2 months. When i first try out the 15 days free trial period, the speed is reasonable and can’t complaint anything cause the entry level home user package much cheaper than maxis broadband.

However, after the 3-4 week, my nightmare comes.

For the past 3 weeks i hardly could connect to the internet.
I had call more than 15-18 times to cry for support but so far non of the customer service and support engineer can really solve my problem.

I was given tons of excuses such as and pointing me to the wrong direction.

When i subscibe the package, then check my coverage and says everything it’s fine. But now when i got problem, they tell me mayb your base station is not strong and change the other side pointing to another base station. So i told the customer service that, first my modem is on green light and nothing to do with based station, seocndsly if i follow his advise, means i have to set behind my kitchen to connect to the direction he mention. Well, that doesn’t make sense for me to get WIMAX, right?

The is another csutomer service say call me back for support but never, when i call them up 2 days later, their excuses to me is that customer service is on leave lar, so no one free to follow your case.

Got another funny convrsation is, the custoerm serice say my acount is terminated, maybe that’s why i cant connect to internet. i told the custoemr service i got all the payment confirmation that there is noithing worng with my payment but he say nothing much he can do.

For those who want to get WIMAX, hope you get more opinions from exisitng users b4 jump ship.

As for me, maybe i’m the lucky one but honestly, their support is HORRIBLE and signal consistency is not there. In the end, what i pay for is to get more frustration.

If P1 is not ready for WIMAX, pls solve all your technical issues and upgrade your customer service level before launching it. IT’s a disgrace!!!

better dont use. connection not stable. depends on location. sumtimes when u r in the green polygon, means in gud coverage, u still get bad service. beware for those located in kepong, subang n klang. always having downtime. more over, the modem needs to face base station and facing to window. what if to face base station, but there’s no window, only damn wall. so how u can get the connection rite. Just dont simply believe in sumting “wireless”.

I also faced the same problem like JY…green signal but slow connection.

I pay for 1.2 mbps package and when I checked for the speed I only get 200-400 kbps.

    So sad T_T

as you should know, this wimax thing is actually quite a new thing, even around the globe, so at the starting stage they sure facing a lot of problem like slow speed and so, especially when u r not in the middle of the coverage.
as for the monthly price, i personally think that is definately not cheap, but rather fair price. slightly higher than streamyx, but the speed also high. jus the modem price is unreasonable, as for registration and activation fees and so, streamyx charge a similar fees also.
i myself r not a user of wimax, though i wanted to get one. but the reason that stop me from doing so is their new policy of fair usage policy which doesnt exist ealier. i personally think that is completely not good, cause i m a heavy downloader, and 20gb doesnt do much thing, juz a couple of games, movie n gone.
so, unless they remove that policy, i m going to stuck with streamyx, which not so satisfying.

U know what, I am truly satisfied with the service. With just rm49 per mth I am amazed with the service offered. It depends on the area you are in. As far as I know you can check either through sms or website whether you are in coverage or not. Even Wimax people are happy to go to your place to check the availability signal (thats what they offered me). FYI, previously, I had subcribed to one of the 3G broadband cos.(blue colored co.). At first I thought I’ve made a good choice but to my regret I ended up paying for nothing for months. The line was terribly bad. Well, that was a lesson well learnt. Check first before you sign up to any subcription. You would end up a happy user like me. Look before U leap…my advice…..

Well, as i know P1 wimax are quite stable at certain area, sometime you might experience slow connection, the reason is not because of high traffic or unstable connection. mainly because of their farkiong DNS server, sometime they can’t resolve the Domain name, thats why it take HOURS to load a page. they should farking upgrade their DNS server.

So if you facing problem loading a page, try to right click your connection manager, adn change the DNS server IP to streamyx one, 202.188.1.5 and 202.188.0.133 or use OPEN DNS

    Hi guys

I am a user of P1 Wimax and guess what the service really SULKS X 100. They advertised at 10MBPS Speed and sid that average speed is at 1MB to 3 MB but most of the time get 0.6 – 0.7MB. When i complian they say that I am at 13th Floor.. Yaeh right if I had not been to Penang i would not have said this.. cause in Penang can get 3MB on 21st Floor. Complained for around 1 month now and as one of the post said technical people still looking into the matter.
    Real bastards.

IF ANYONE IS THINKING OF USING THIS SERVICE THINK 1000X first. DO NOT USE IT AS I THINK THEY HAVE POOR QUALITY STAFF AND ALSO EQUIPTMENT.

I am stuck because of my stupidity and greed as I applied for free net book package. If I cancell I will have to pay for the netbook myself!

I think I want to comp[lian to MCMC as I cannot tahan already.

I’m thinking of going over to Amax. I wonder if it’s good (even a tiny bit better than TM is good enough)? It doesn’t have the stupid bandwidth restriction like P1, or the ridiculous modem price.. and now they’re providing free wifi access point to go with the multiuser modem.

Anyone have any experience? I saw wifi signals in my area that seems to be from a guy who connects it to Amax (either that’s Amax’s staff putting it in the wifi AP or the guy really loves Amax…)..

P1 says I have max out my 20G since 1 week ago and I will have to wait for another 12 more days before I can get better speed. To terminate I will have to pay them RM999. If watching YouTube and Facebook on an average 3 hours a day will max out 20G in 2 weeks, WHAT A RIP OFF. I HOPE YOU DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP. Don’t believe, then I welcome you to the HATE P1 Wimax Club and Happy Stessing.
